Salem elects the number of deacons needed each year to carry out our deacon ministry. We elect deacons from members who meet the scriptural qualifications in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Deacons are servants of the church and are ordained. As the early church grew, there was a need to care for the physical needs of members.

In like fashion, the deacon body at Salem Baptist Church is here to serve you – “Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task” (Acts 6:3, NASB).
